Can anybody tell me what is this?.....it looks like a wooden flower to me.

A pine cone.

Of course I can't identify specifically what kind of pine it came from, but definitely from a coniferous tree.

yep a pine cone. here in the states some people collect them in the winter and decorate them with glitter and paint and make ornaments that they can hang on their christmas trees. ;)

yes yes yes ... its a pine cone, an exotic species to south india. the only conifer found here is in the rainforests of western ghats, a rare plant, called 'podocarpus walliachianus'.

Its a pinecone! A big one :-)
They are good for decorating around the house during the fall and Christmas seasons :-)
